Community Support Services Program

Allendale’s Community Support Services Program (CSSP) offers individuals and families who might not have ready access to mental health services due to limitations imposed by financial resources, physical disabilities, transportation, or other similar obstacles that prevent the child and family from the benefit of counseling services provided in a mental health clinic.

Our CSSP offers a complete range of compassionate, rehabilitative behavioral health support services designed to help kids and families in crisis to develop a trauma-informed, person-centered treatment plan including resilience-oriented skills. CSSP support can help decrease crisis episodes and hospitalizations and increase functioning and stability in the community.

Community Support Services may include:

  • Intensive therapy
  • Psycho-education support
  • Case management
  • Mental illness self-management
  • Development of practical daily living skills
  • Development of interpersonal skills
  • Identification of natural supports
  • Linkage to community resources and more
  • In-home or in-school therapy for Medicaid clients (under the age of 18) who are unable to attend in-office appointments

Allendale’s team is a multidisciplinary team that consists of case managers, counselors, a therapeutic mentor, a psychiatrist, and a nurse. Our team provides a continuum of care that includes counseling, medication monitoring, access to community resources, and a solid understanding of practical life skills.

Our Community Support Specialists work collaboratively with clients and their families to identify goals and strategies to help children and their families thrive.

Together with the client’s primary therapist, we incorporate this into an individualized treatment plan. We believe consistent communication between the youth, family and provider is imperative to continuously review progress.

  • Provides supportive and structured therapeutic interactions designed to increase positive interactions and social skill development with the youth in his/her home community
  • Fosters opportunities for youth to develop, strengthen and practice newly-learned skills within natural environments, such as home, school and community
  • Encourages involvement in positive community-based activities such as park district, YMCA, church-based, and/or other local recreation programs
  • Promotes independent living skill development
