Want to take your experiences parenting a child with socio-emotional health needs and support another parent in the community? The Family Support Specialist works as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team to serve as advocates, mentors, and facilitators, providing support to parents and caregivers from a peer perspective.

The Position Will: The Family Support Specialist will enhance a parent or caregiver’s capacity to manage their child’s behavioral health needs through the development of skills, knowledge, and parenting techniques necessary to improve coping abilities and to address the child’s social-emotional health needs.

Qualified candidates will have lived experience, or experience as a caregiver of a child with special needs, preferably behavioral health needs. Experience navigating any of the child-serving systems and/or have experience supporting, educating and advocating for family members who are involved with the child-serving systems is recommended.

Required: High School Diploma / GED. Must be willing to work in the home and community environment with the family.

Per DCFS regulations, must be at least 21 years of age
